Project Overview
SalesInsight is an interactive data visualization project built using SQL and Tableau to analyze business performance metrics. This project leverages a star-schema database imported from MySQL into Tableau to provide comprehensive insights into revenue, sales, customer behavior, product performance, market trends, and cost analysis. The dashboards are designed to answer critical business questions through intuitive visualizations and filters.
Data Schema
The database consists of five tables:
Customers: Contains information about customer codes, names, and types.
Example rows:
Cus001, Surge Stores, Brick & MortarCus002, Nomad Stores, Brick & Mortar
Markets: Details market codes, names, and zones (e.g., North, South, Central).
Full table includes markets from Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and international markets like New York and Paris.
Products: Includes product codes and product types (e.g., "Own Brand").
Example rows:
Prod001, Own BrandProd002, Own Brand
Transactions: Fact table that records product codes, customer codes, market codes, order dates, sales quantities, sales amounts, profit margins, and cost prices.

Date: Provides temporal data, including year, month, and formatted date fields.

Data Model
The database follows a star schema with the Transactions table as the central fact table connected to four dimension tables:
Date: Temporal analysis
Customers: Customer behavior analysis
Markets: Market and regional insights
Products: Product performance evaluation

The project includes seven interactive dashboards, each addressing specific business questions:
1. Revenue and Sales Trends

Identified the top 5 customers and top 5 products based on revenue.
Integrated global year and month selectors for detailed temporal analysis.

How has revenue evolved year-over-year for each customer?
What are the profit margins for top customers?
